1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is an excellent robot vacuum with a number of smart features that make it more easy to maintain than most competing models. The automatic bin emptying feature is among the most convenient features we've seen in a robot and it is compatible with hard floors as well as carpets. The app walks you through the entire process. It is also easy to use and set up. Another feature that is impressive is the ability to return to the spot where it left off in our tests--it did this for 77 mins on one cleaning, before running out of battery.
In contrast to other robovacs we've evaluated, the i3+ EVO features self-emptying bins that dump debris into an external dirt compartment on the base of its charging when it's full. The i3+ EVO can be prevented from overfilling by a self-emptying bin. However it must be manually emptied at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's inner dustbin holds 2.4L of debris that is more than enough to get it through several cleaning sessions before needing to replace it.
Similar to the i7, this model also uses the latest floor sensors to create maps and navigate in neat rows. However the i3+ EVO only stores one map, whereas the i7 has the capacity to store multiple maps. The i7's map is used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones, however, not the i3+ EVO.
The i3+ EVO is more effective of removing surface debris compared to some other robovacs we've looked at, but it's not the best in cleaning edges and corners. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly silent. It was a bit rough on furniture, as it moved chairs away. It also caused collisions against the sides of the test bed.
2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro is an excellent choice, whether you are expanding your collection of robot vacuums, or just getting started. It has an elegant design with powerful navigation and useful automation at a reasonable price. It's the best value for the money on the market at the moment, and it even matches the Roborock models that are more expensive in a variety of ways.
This robot does a great job of cleaning floors that are not clean and its avoidance technology helps it steer clear of furniture legs and other obstacles. It also performs well on carpets and scores the highest score on our tests of navigation. It's only downside is that it's noisier than other models, and doesn't perform as well in our satisfaction of the owner and predicted reliability tests.
The Q5 Pro has a very large dust bin that is 770ml, which means you won't need to empty it as frequently as other 2-in-1 robots. Its 240-minute runtime is very generous compared to others we've examined. When the battery is running low, it returns automatically to its dock where it recharges and then resumes cleaning from where it left off. You can manage the Q5 Pro via the app and also use voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
This is one of the first robots we've seen incorporate 3D mapping. This, in conjunction with other advancements, allows it to perform exceptionally well in our vacuuming and mopping tests. You can plan cleaning schedules, create no-go zones, and check the battery's status among other things. The app is simple to use, even though it doesn't support Apple HomeKit which is slated to be added in 2025. Apple updated its footnote on its website in early November to reflect that this feature has been delayed until 2025. HomeKit isn't compatible with several other robots, but Siri Shortcuts are.
3. TP-Link Tapo RV30 Plus
If you are looking for a robotic vacuum cleaner that can also mop and is affordable, the TP-Link Tapo RV30 Plus is the right option. It comes with a plethora of features at a reasonable price and has a chic design. You can control it using the buttons on the device using the app, or even using voice commands. The device is powered by batteries, and the vacuum container can automatically empty itself.
The TP-Link RV30 Plus does a great job at cleaning up normal messes and is suitable for light mopping on hard floors. It comes with mopping cloths and a replacement sweeper brush, as well as a HEPA filter. It can be used with a smart hub like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to provide voice control. This model utilizes a dToF internal LiDAR sensor to map your home, creating efficient cleaning routes. The iMop received high marks for its coverage and navigation. It also did a great job avoiding obstacles like furniture. It also finds its way to the base station in case it runs out of batteries during an exercise of cleaning.
The spot cleaning mode lets you to clean a certain space on your floor. It can also be programmed to follow a predetermined path, which is beneficial for narrow staircases or hallways. In our carpet cleaning test, it did a good job cleaning carpets. However, it struggled to clean carpets and rugs with longer piles. It can also be set to automatically lift the mop pad when it comes in contact with carpet. This is a fantastic feature if you want to avoid mowing your carpets.
The iMop comes with an onboard dust container and an water tank that is filled and refilled at the end of each cleaning session.
